The morphogenesis of testicular degeneration induced in rats by orally administered 2,5-hexanedione

The neurotoxic hexacarbon 2,5-hexanedione (2,5-HD) produces testicular atrophy in experimental animals. To examine the morphogenesis of the testicular lesion, 1.0% 2,5-HD was provided in the drinking water of adult F-344 rats for up to 6 weeks. After 3 weeks of administration, there were occasional large vacuoles in the basal region of the germinal epithelium. At 4 weeks, these vacuoles were much larger and more numerous; electron microscopy demonstrated that they were derived from the smooth endoplasmic reticulum. The vacuoles were preferentially associated with stages 12, 13, 14, and 1 of the spermatogenic cycle. Additionally, at 4 weeks there was a significant decrease in the number of tubules in stages 7 and 13, and a concomitant increase in the percentage of tubules in stages 3, 5, and 6. By Week 5, most Golgi-phase and cap-phase spermatids were visibly affected, showing margination of nuclear chromatin, and were becoming dissociated from Sertoli cells. Frequent multinucleated giant cells were seen and electron microscopy of these cells suggested that they were derived from fused spermatocytes or spermatids. After 6 weeks, fewer giant cells were present, most tubules contained cellular debris, and many showed empty lumina encircled by a thin ring of cytoplasm near the basement membrane. Interstitial tissue appeared unaffected. These studies indicate that the Sertoli cell is probably an initial target for 2,5-HD action in the testis.

大学生日常琐事应激与健康的关系

目的探讨日常琐事应激与大学生健康的关系,检验日常琐事应激对健康的预测作用。方法采用自测健康量表和经修订的日常琐事应激量表对153名大学生施测,考察自测健康和日常琐事应激的关系。结果大学生日常琐事应激频率对生理健康预测显著;认知评价和个体应对对心理健康预测显著;个体应对对社会健康预测显著;应激频率和个体应对对总体健康预测显著。结论大学生日常琐事应激与健康关系密切,可作为预测个体身心健康的有效预测源。     

1049例育龄妇女下生殖道感染情况调查

目的了解育龄妇女下生殖道感染情况,为育龄女性生殖健康提供进一步的数据资料。方法对1049例来自健康体检中心的21~40岁育龄妇女的阴道后穹窿及宫颈分泌物标本进行检测,阴道清洁度、滴虫采用显微镜镜检法,淋球菌、解脲支原体、人型支原体、真菌采用培养法,沙眼衣原体则采用免疫层析法。检测结果进行统计学分析。结果女性生殖道感染的感染率为53.3%,其中混合感染率为9.8%,而清洁度异常率仅为28.4%;前三位病原体感染依次为解脲支原体(35.9%)、衣原体(18.1%)、真菌(6.7%)。结论女性生殖道感染情况严重,具有隐匿性,应加强对无症状感染的育龄妇女的监测。     

Osteotomy around the knee: Assessment of quality,content and readability of online information

BackgroundAs knee osteotomy surgery becomes increasingly accessible, more patients may turn to the Internet for information. This study examined the source, quality, content and readability of online information regarding osteotomy around the knee.MethodsThe first 70 websites returned by the top four search engines were identified using the key words: “knee osteotomy” and “high tibial osteotomy.” The websites were categorised by type and assessed using the DISCERN score, Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) benchmark criteria and a novel Knee Osteotomy-Specific Score (KOSS). The presence of the Health On the Net (HON) code accreditation seal was noted. Readability of each website was assessed using eight readability formulae. The mean reading grade level (RGL) was compared to the 6th and 8th grade reading levels. The mean RGL of each category was also compared.ResultsOf the 45 unique websites analysed, the majority were Physician (33%) and Journal websites (31%). The mean DISCERN score was 36.7 (±8.9) which is classified as ‘poor.’ The mean JAMA benchmark criteria score was 2.04 (±1.5) and Physician websites were most likely to be scored zero. The mean KOSS was 15.4 (±5.7). The highest scoring website was a Commercial site but, overall, Journal category sites provided the best quality information. Websites that bore the HONcode seal obtained higher DISCERN, JAMA benchmark criteria and Knee Osteotomy - Specific Scores.The cumulative mean RGL was 13.2 (±2.2) which exceeded the 6th grade level by an average of 7.2 grade levels and the 8th grade level by an average of 5.2 grade levels. No website (0%) was written at or below either the 6th or the 8th grade reading levels. The mean Flesch Reading Ease Score of all websites was 41.13 (±14.7) which is classified as ‘difficult.’ Journal websites had the highest RGL.ConclusionThe information available online regarding osteotomy around the knee varies tremendously in quality and completeness. Physician sites predominate, but these were among the lowest scoring of all websites. Even where high quality information is available, it is set at too high a level to be easily understood.Level of evidenceSurvey of materials – Internet.

目的探讨大学生完美主义对心理健康、自尊和主观幸福感的影响作用.方法采用完美主义量表、心理健康量表、自尊量表和幸福感量表对290名大学生进行测试.结果①担心出错、对行动的疑虑是心理健康的影响变量;担心出错、组织性和对行动的疑虑是自尊的影响变量;担心出错和组织性是主观幸福感的影响变量.②顺应不良的完美主义对心理健康、自尊及主观幸福感产生消极影响;顺应良好的完美主义对自尊和主观幸福感产生积极影响.结论完美主义维度对心理健康、自尊及主观幸福感具有不同程度的影响,顺应良好和顺应不良的完美主义对心理健康、自尊及主观幸福感具有不同性质的影响.     

Double nondisjunction during karyotypic progression of chemically induced Syrian hamster cell lines

The karyotypic evolution of three chemically induced cell lines of Syrian hamster embryo in culture are described. The only karyotypic alteration of one clone was a trisomy of chromosome #11, which presumably arose by nondisjunction after carcinogen treatment. A pure population of cells with the trisomy was observed repeatedly upon karyotyping of cells at the first three passages after cloning. However, at a late passage, apparently normal diploid cells appeared in the culture, which we propose resulted from a second nondisjunction of one chromosome #11, reverting the cells from trisomy 11 to disomy 11. The karyotypic evolution of two other cell lines also involved double nondisjunction, which resulted in duplication of a translocated chromosome and concurrent loss of the normal nonrearranged chromosome. Taken together with the reported findings of others, the results indicate that double nondisjunction is a mechanism in karyotypic progression during neoplastic development.

Information security concepts and practices: the case of a provincial multi-specialty hospital

In recent years, major and widely accepted information security understandings and achievements confirm that the problem is complex. They clarify that technologies are fundamental tools, but management processes have even bigger relevance, as also prestigious international magazines dossier clearly explained recently. Such a magazine attention outlines the wide impact that the subject has on watchful decision makers. ISO17799 is an emerging standard in information security. In principle there are no reasons for considering it not applicable to the health care sector. In practice, because of both the just conceptual level of the standard and the peculiarities of the health care data and institutions, a lot of analysis and design work need to be invested any time a health care institution decides to deal with the subject. CEN/ENV 12924 is another emerging standard certainly more on the spot of the health care. Nevertheless, it also asks for evident further investigation. The practical case of information security design, implementation, management, and auditing inside a multi-specialty provincial Italian hospital will be described.

The legislative background and current responsibilities of the new National Center for Health Care Technology (NCHCT) are discussed. The NCHCT's charge is to consider the stage of development, the actual or potential risks, costs and rate of use of health care technology. The role of Government in supporting new technologies, stimulating innovation and encouraging application of research products is considered. These issues are discussed in the context of the uncertainty inherent in planning and the formulation of public policy.
